Some things do reach outside Europe, and we name them rather than round down. Web search runs on Linkup, a French company that allocates queries across its own infrastructure in the EU, the United States, Canada and Asia-Pacific and does not guarantee local processing, so an individual search may be handled outside Europe. Linkup is the only company that receives a search: we used to retry a failed search on a United States provider, and we removed that on 3 September 2026, so a search that fails now simply fails. Linkup is not a sub-processor: it receives the query text the assistant composes, sent from our servers with no account data, no user identifier and no IP address, so a search cannot be linked to you. Our security page lists every transfer outside the EU in full.

It is 100% European. AI processing at Scaleway (France), servers at Hetzner (Germany), image generation at IONOS (Germany), and the company is FRITS AI ApS in Copenhagen, Denmark. Every company that processes your data on our behalf is European and bound by EU law, and your chats never leave the EU. The models are not all European-built — we run the best self-hostable model for each task on European machines, so the companies that built them receive nothing, and gdprchat.eu/transparency lists which one serves which function. Web search can still reach outside Europe, and we say so plainly: it runs on Linkup, a French company that spreads queries across its own infrastructure in the EU, the United States, Canada and Asia-Pacific and does not guarantee an individual search is processed locally. Where is my data stored?
Your chats are processed and stored in the European Union. They are never sold and never used to train AI models. An on-device PII filter can strip personal details before a message ever leaves your browser, and you can export or delete your account with one click.
