Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 2026-07-10

GDPRchat is built for everyone in Europe — including people who use a screen reader, keyboard, or other assistive technology. Accessibility for blind and low-vision users is an active, ongoing commitment, and much of it was shaped directly by feedback from screen-reader users. This statement reflects the European Accessibility Act and EN 301 549.

What works with a screen reader

  • Jump between questions and answers. Every message in a chat carries a hidden heading — “You said:” before your messages and “GDPRchat said:” before the answers — in your own language. Use your screen reader’s heading navigation (the H key in NVDA and JAWS, or the headings rotor in VoiceOver and TalkBack) to move through the conversation one turn at a time.
  • Spoken answer notifications. GDPRchat says when it starts working on an answer and when the answer is ready — or was stopped, or failed — without reading half-finished text over you while it is still arriving.
  • Labelled controls. The message field and every button — send, stop, attach, dictate — have clear spoken names in all 24 EU languages, plus Norwegian and Icelandic.
  • Voice dictation with spoken feedback. When you dictate, GDPRchat announces that recording has started and confirms when your words have been turned into text, so you can speak your questions from start to finish.
  • Described images. Images GDPRchat creates carry the description they were made from as their alternative text, so they are not silent to a screen reader.
  • Keyboard access. Skip links to the message field and to the latest answer appear when you move by keyboard, focus is never pulled away from you unexpectedly, and pop-up windows keep focus inside them and return it when they close.
  • Reduced motion. GDPRchat follows your device’s “reduce motion” setting and calms its animations when you ask it to.

Where we are honest about limits

Answers are generated live, so their inner structure — headings, tables, lists — comes from the AI itself and can vary. We smooth over what we can: answer headings are kept below the conversation structure so heading navigation stays predictable. Some rich result cards, such as charts and maps, are visual by nature, and we keep extending their text descriptions.

Tell us what would help you

Accessibility feedback goes to the top of our list — several of the features above exist because a blind user asked for them. Use the speech-bubble button beneath any answer, or the feedback option in the menu, and tell us what got in your way. Write in any language you like. We reply, we fix, and we ask you to confirm the fix works with your setup.

Scope and standards

This statement covers the GDPRchat web app at gdprchat.eu and the GDPRchat apps for Android and iOS, which share the same interface. We work toward WCAG 2.2 AA and EN 301 549, and we test with VoiceOver on Mac and iPhone, NVDA on Windows, and TalkBack on Android. GDPRchat is operated by FRITS AI ApS, Denmark.
